In 2011, the Allen Family purchased the CC Keller Building located along historic 25th Street in Ogden. From the beginning it was an uphill battle. The previous owner was unwilling to leave and made it virtually unusable by filling it from floor-to-ceiling with what could only be described as garbage. Once inside they found that the roof was failing and there was no access to the second floor except through a hole in the brick wall from the neighboring Helena Hotel.
The Allens were not deterred. With all the structural work that needed to be done anyway, why not go a little further and add a rooftop bar? Formerly the home of the notorious Rose Rooms Brothel and El Borracho Tavern, they opened “Alleged”, a bar named for all the things that allegedly took place here. The views of Historic 25th Street from the roof are amazing and the space is designed to sit back from the parapet wall as to not disturb the historic roofline.
Using the original brothel doors and jambs, and adding new transom glass and hardware, the bathroom doors all bear the name of famous Madams or characters of the Ogden.
Alleged is bringing quality nightlife to historic Ogden will continue to spur development that uses historic landmarks wisely and enhances the character of Historic 25th Street.
